Short and Sweet is Hard to Beat
Are all loves legitimate? Surely not. Or perhaps, since love, i.e., giving oneself for the good of another, is a fixed good, then the problem is with the disordering of love, a concept Augustine put forth.
The easiest way to dis-order love is to turn it inward, make it about feeling good, hold it for ourselves. Where does this leave us? What is love really and how can doing what we enjoy be properly called love? I will whittle down to 100 words and finish with this: when we love God first he helps make all the secondary loves whole.
